The Creature of the Night

She was running through the woods. Branches were making noises right behind her. It was pitch-dark. She was screaming for help, but no one was able to hear her. She was crying, and just kept running and running. The ‘thing’ was gaining up on her. She could hear it. She looked behind her, and then she felt. Everything suddenly went quiet. She could not hear the ‘thing’ anymore. She was unable to move. Suddenly someone touched her shoulder, “are you all right?” She did not know where this man had come from, but she did know that he might be able to help her. His eyes shined through the dark right into hers. He offered to follow her home. She was finally able to relax. She felt safe in his arms. The clouds moved away from the moon, and she could now see his face. He was beautiful. But something about his face all of a sudden changed. Hair was growing out of his nose. His mouth was shaping into a long snout. His teeth were getting longer, and now he had fur everywhere. He looked like an old werewolf. She screamed, and tried to protect herself, but she could not escape from his big arms. He was howling like an animal in rut, and then he bit her. He bit her hard and brutal. She went still, and fell to the ground. She was inanimate.

Unexpectedly she woke up, and could feel a whole different kind of energy. She smiled, and licked on her new long teeth.

  1. Nice contrast between the feeling of safety and the actual events. Also very good ending, that clarifies the change/new life ahead of your female protagonist :-)
Do werewolves actually grow hair out of their noses, though? :-))
