Analysis of the song Handlebars

Engelsk

Song: Handlebars – Flobots

Analysis

Who is speaking?

It’s a rapper: “I’m a famous rapper”, he’s an American, he has friends, self confidence and he’s a show-off.

To whom is the person speaking?

Everyone would listen to this song. Neutral.

What is characteristic of the song?

He uses no swearwords. The tone is neutral.

Repetitions: “Look at me” – Self confidence. “No handlebars, no handlebars”.

Rhyme: Lots of words end on an “e”.

He sees himself over the crowd, he sees himself like a God, powerful – ha can “do anything”.

What is actually said?

Keywords: Handlebars, look at “me”, “I” can do anything, “I” can show, do, tell.

What is the writer’s intention?

“I can do whatever I want to”, “I can do anything”, “I’m invisible”.

He wants to tell everybody that “if he can, we can”.

Surveillance and self-promotion:

When we read the lyrics, we relate this song to self-promotion and confidence. But when we see the music video, we find out that if you have Gods powers, you’ve got to be as lonely as God.

  1. You have thought about some interesting things about the song and you presented it very well with making the question with italics and the anwsers in normal writing.

I think you should have considered rewriting the sentence "He sees himself over the crowd", because it does not really make that much sence in english, but I get what you mean.

Overall I think you did a good job.

  4. You are getting the most important points out of the song, but the answers is a little short, other than that, there isnt really much more to that song. Good.
